This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit maryten.co.uk or buy from us, why we use it, who we share it with and what your rights are. We keep it to the minimum we need to run our shop.
1. Who we are
Maryten is a trading name of Maryte Vanagiene, Hunt Road, Southall, London UB2 4QB, United Kingdom. We are the “controller” of your personal information under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

2. What we collect
- When you order: your name, delivery and billing address, email address, phone number, the items you buy and your order history.
- Payment: payments are handled by Stripe and PayPal. We do not see or store your full card details.
- When you contact us: your name, email address and message (contact form, email or WhatsApp), and any photos you send us.
- If you create an account: your login details and saved addresses.
- When you browse: technical information such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit and how you found our site, collected through cookies (see section 6).
3. How and why we use it
- To process and deliver your order, send order and delivery emails, and handle returns and refunds. Lawful basis: to perform our contract with you.
- To answer your questions and give customer service. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in helping our customers (or to take steps before a contract).
- To keep records for tax and accounting, and to deal with any legal claims. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
- To prevent fraud and keep our website secure. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
- To understand how our website is used and improve it (analytics). Lawful basis: your consent.
- To send you news or offers, only if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time. Lawful basis: your consent.
We never sell your personal information.
4. Who we share it with
We only share what each service needs to do its job:
- Royal Mail – your name, address and contact details, to deliver your order.
- Stripe and PayPal – to take payments securely and prevent fraud.
- Our website host (IONOS) and WordPress/WooCommerce services – to run the website and store order information.
- Google – Google Analytics (website statistics) and Gmail (sending order emails and replying to you).
- Mailchimp – only if you sign up to receive emails from us.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram) – to show our products in our Facebook and Instagram shop. If you contact us through those platforms, Meta’s own privacy policy also applies.
- WhatsApp – if you choose to message us there.
- Authorities such as HMRC or the police, if the law requires us to.
Some of these companies may process information outside the UK, for example in the USA. Where they do, they use legally approved safeguards such as UK International Data Transfer Agreements or the UK–US data bridge.
5. How long we keep it
- Order and payment records: 6 years, as required for tax purposes.
- Messages and contact form enquiries: up to 12 months after our conversation ends, unless they relate to an order.
- Account details: until you ask us to close your account.
- Email newsletter details: until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics data: up to 14 months.
6. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use:
- Essential cookies – to run your basket, checkout, account and payment security. These are needed for the site to work.
- Analytics cookies – Google Analytics, to see how many people visit and which pages are popular.
- Shopping cookies – to remember how you found our site (for example from Google or social media).
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop the basket and checkout from working.
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it if it is wrong;
- ask us to delete it (we may need to keep order records for tax reasons);
- object to or ask us to limit how we use it;
- ask us to send it to you or another company in a common format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from emails.
To use any of these rights, contact us by email or WhatsApp. We will reply within one month. There is no charge.
8. Keeping your information safe
Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, payments are handled by specialist payment providers, and access to order information is limited to us.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk, telephone 0303 123 1113.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
